Worming your puppy
Your puppy will have been fully wormed and flea’d up to date when you take him/her home. The worming schedule we use is at weeks 3, 5, 7, 9
11, 15 and 23.
What to use
We use the liquid Panacur 10% which can be purchased from your vets. We use a graduated syringe for the dosage, which is written on the side of the packet. Make sure you follow the instructions for puppies.
After week 23, we change the schedule to that of the adult dogs. We worm every 3 months and we use a product called Milbemax, which is a broad-spectrum wormer, and covers all the worms that a dog can get. Milbemax dosage is calculated by weight of the dog, so it is important to get these tablets from your vet who will advise on the correct dosage.
Fleaing your puppy
When you take your puppy home, he/she will have been flea’d prior to you taking him. Here we use Frontline, which we have found to be a good reliable product. Like worming, the dosage for fleaing is calculated by the puppy’s weight, and again, we would advise you to purchase your flea product from the vets and they will advise on the correct dosage. You should flea your puppy every month.
